the dot

So here we are.
Technology. It just keeps on chugging forward, at ever-faster speeds. We can’t help but fall in love with all things new, for we are not so evolved that we don’t still get distracted by shiny things.
The 1980s were the first shiny decade, at least as far as I was concerned. Granted, I hadn’t been living that long, but compared to the muted, avocado/mustard/burnt orange shades of the 1970s, the 80s absolutely sparkled. Holy crap... DeLoreans! Erasable pens! Home computers! Compact Discs! The Space Shuttle! Devo! Beep-boop-beep... the future has arrived! Thanks, technology!

So here we are.
Tomorrow night, Aaron Sorkin’s latest series, The Newsroom, premieres on HBO. I figure that this occasion is as good a time as any to pull out one of my dusty old scribblings from a decade ago: my Ode to an Aaron Sorkin Monologue.

So here we are.
It’s become clear over the course of history that not all of our heroes are ever completely pure, but lately, highly public wrongdoings are quite the rage. Allegations of all sorts of crimes committed by people in lofty positions seem to blot the news each day.
But I am here today to set the record straight.

fun fun fun

So here we are.
It’s almost summer. Or rather, it’s almost technically summer. The solstice is less than two weeks away, and yet Memorial Day has long passed and there are white pants everywhere. So whether or not it’s actually summer, I guess it’s summer.
And summer is the time for fun. Or, I should say, summer is the time for FUN!!

tony number

So here we are.
Last year, in honor of the Tony Awards, I wrote “web...blah...log: the musical!” (After that, I addressed its flaws in “notes session” and created an edited final version.) This year, with the Tonys less than a week away, I’m going to go back in time for a almost-as-meta dramatic moment.
