blind date

So here we are.
It’s hard to make some people understand what the life of an actor is truly like, partially because the portrayal of actors in TV and movies is rather narrow. It reinforces untrue stereotypes that seep into reality in an unfortunate way, and thusly people start to believe that only the bad actors do commercials while the best actors do movies, and TV actors are somewhere in the middle, except for the big film stars who are doing society a huge public service by occasionally humbling themselves on the tube so you have something pretty to look at. This is not altogether true... but still, be sure to thank those big film-to-TV stars for their sacrifice if you should ever serve them coffee. They’re the real heroes. (Sorry about all that sarcasm dripping on the floor there.)

do not bend part 2

So here we are.
Last month, in “do not bend,” I wrote about my recent surge of popularity in Eastern Europe, resulting in seven autograph requests, a huge number considering my rather humble (read: nonexistent) level of notoriety in the States, let alone the world. By the end of my having written the post, that number had risen to ten.
(And don’t go saying that I’m being ridiculous when I say I have no notoriety. I just performed at a benefit where a photographer who once published several pictures of me online asked me, who are you? When I told him my name, he said, yeah, but who are you?)

speak up?

You know how a lot of people tend to end their sentences as though they’re asking a question? Did you know that it’s called upspeak? Have you read about it in the New York Times? Or did you reach your free article limit for the month and miss it?

long live the queen

So here we are.
You’ll have to forgive the extremely local flavor of this particular post, but I have been moved by some very recent news: after more than three decades of service, longtime New York news anchor Sue Simmons is being dropped by WNBC-TV.
In other words, the Queen of New York City has been fired.

web paranoia

So here we are.
I bet that all web pages are self-aware, paranoid and secretly wondering the same thing:
Why are you really reading this?
Could it be because I’m about to tell you the secret? The key to happiness, love, and weight loss?
